1.240-Hour Visa-Free Transit Policy Upgraded
Since June 12, 2025, the number of countries eligible for China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy has increased to 55. This means that travelers from more countries can enjoy a visa-free stay of up to 240 hours (10 days) when transiting through China to a third country.
To apply for this policy, you need to meet the following conditions: Be a citizen of an eligible country; Hold a valid international travel document with a validity period of not less than 3 months; Meet the entry conditions for the third country (region); Hold a confirmed onward ticket or relevant proof with a fixed date and seat to the third country (region) within 240 hours; Fill out the arrival card for temporary entry of foreigners and undergo inspection and questioning by the entry-exit border inspection authorities.
The ports and areas of activity covered by the policy have also been further expanded. The number of applicable provinces has increased from 19 to 24, with the addition of Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hainan, and Guizhou. The areas where travelers can stay and move around in provinces such as Fujian, Hubei, and Shaanxi have been expanded to the whole province, providing a wider range of activities for transit passengers.
2.Unilateral Visa-Free Policies and Mutual Visa Exemption Agreements for Multiple Countries
China's visa-free benefits don't stop there! From June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, China has piloted a unilateral visa-free policy for five South American countries: Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay.
From June 9, 2025, to June 8, 2026, passport holders from four Gulf countries, namely Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain, can also enjoy the new visa-free policy and stay in China for up to 30 days for purposes such as business, tourism, visiting relatives, exchanges, and transit.
As of now, China has implemented a unilateral visa-free policy for 43 countries and signed mutual visa exemption agreements with 30 countries. There are 55 countries whose citizens can transit through China visa-free for up to 10 days when traveling to a third country, with Indonesia being the latest addition. The total number of countries with visa-free access to China has reached 128.
