Founded in 1951, Chongqing University of Science and Technology is a full-time public university of general education, mainly focused on engineering fields featuring petroleum, chemistry, metallurgy, material science, mechanics, electronics, safety and environmental protection. The breadth of its academic endeavor includes sciences, engineering, economics, management, laws, humanities and arts. It has produced more than 100,000 alumni.
The university covers a total area of approximately 140 hectares and a total construction area of 530,000 square meters, with teaching facilities worth 240 million yuan. Its library possesses a collection of more than one million books and a wide range of digital resources. The university employs 1080 full-time academic faculty, including 124 professors and 216 who hold doctoral degrees. It has established 4 Provincial and Ministerial Key Disciplines, 3 Key Laboratories, 6 Engineering Centers, winning more than 40 provincial and ministerial scientific research prizes, 116 patents, with annual scientific research funding exceeding one hundred million yuan.
The university pays great attention to cultivating the students’ pursuit of entrepreneurship and innovation, constantly enriching the cultural and physical activities for students. They have won over 400 prizes in academic contests in various disciplines, as well as cultural and sports competitions at national, provincial and ministerial levels.
